The engagement

What the work
can involve.

We tailor the scope to the decision you need to make, the available information and the project stage.

  1. 01

Select testing questions based on material type, expected stress conditions, drainage conditions and the engineering decision.

  2. 02

Specify sample preparation, preservation, chain of custody and the required laboratory reporting.

  3. 03

Scope appropriate triaxial tests, such as UU, CU with pore-pressure measurement, or CD, and specialist testing where justified.

  4. 04

Review test quality and interpret results with attention to sample disturbance, stress path, variability and applicability.

Agreeing responsibilities

Testing is arranged with suitable laboratories under an agreed scope. This website does not imply Nova Build owns an accredited laboratory or every item of field equipment.

The output

Defined work.
Useful deliverables.

  • Sampling and laboratory test schedule
  • Laboratory RFQ and reporting requirements
  • Data-quality review and parameter interpretation
  • Further testing and uncertainty recommendations

What to bring to the first discussion

Ground model, design questions, available samples, material descriptions, intended stress conditions and existing test results.

You can start with an outline of the information you have. We will agree the document list and transfer method before you send confidential material.

Working together

A scope you can review.

The proposal identifies tasks, deliverables, inputs, dependencies, exclusions and pricing. Open questions remain visible so the next decision is informed.
